Again this year Frederick
County Public Schools is sponsoring a secondary county-wide science and
engineering fair. The secondary fair
will be held on
April 2, 2016. The
secondary fair will be split into two divisions: middle school and high school, but there will
be one unified science fair booklet. The winning
high school design will be featured on the front cover of the booklet. The winning
middle school design will be featured on the back cover of the booklet. Honorable mention winners from both
divisions will be published inside the booklet.
In addition, divisional winners and honorable mentions will be announced
on Channel 18 the week following the fair.
All winners will be invited to the awards ceremony on April 2, 2016. Award certificates
not distributed at that time will be sent to the sponsoring teacher at the
school. The top winner at each level will win a gift card along with a
certificate.
Contest Rules:
· Contest runs through Monday,
March 14, 2016.
· A hard copy original
entry must be received by the Science Curriculum Specialist, 6-12 (Colleen
Beall,
East Street – 3rd Floor) by Monday, March 14, 2016.. Entries received after
this date will not be judged.

Digital art work must also
be emailed in .pdf format to Colleen Beall (Colleen.Beall@fcps.org) or Linda Mosser (Linda.Mosser@fcps.org ) by Monday, March 14, 2016..
· No entries will be returned. All entries will be judged by members of the
science fair planning committee.
All decisions are final.
Entry Design Requirements:
· All entries should be black and white, good quality, and
submitted on standard 8 1/2 x 11 inch paper.
· Actual art work is to be no more than 7 1/2 x 10 inches, allowing at least a half inch border around the entry.
· All artwork must be in the portrait (vertical) format rather than
landscape (horizontal).
· All entries must include the words "35th Annual
Frederick County Secondary Science and Engineering Fair" as well as the year “2016”. (Please note: past entries have been eliminated due to misspelled
words. Check carefully for spelling
errors.)
· All entries must include artwork depicting a science, mathematics
or engineering theme - combinations of
these
themes are encouraged.
